LP STUDY WK 13 Tone pass

Almost done.  Most of my time was spent on designing the lay in.  Having a tonal plan really simplifies things and speeds things up.  If you see serratus muscles, lol it's a backwards scribbled 3

LP WK 13 Lay in and tonal plan

This is the most important stage of the drawing.  The lay-in.  If it falls apart here, then you're setting up for disaster.  This is where you do the bulk of your designing.  How can I simplify more?  What can I leave out? What's the emphasis?  What's the figure doing? etc..   Rendering is fairly easy once all the decisions are made.  The more I learn, the more I edit out.

Sterling Tian Week 7

This is at 5 hours.  I tried to simplify parts and emphasize some areas that I thought were interesting.

Sterling Tian Week 7

This is 2.5 hours in.  I'm making up for a missing week with this one.  This time I'm going to take more breaks before I finish so I can catch things before I put in the final touches.

LP STUDY WK11 Tonal Pass

Minimal Rendering.  The face was designed with a few shapes.  No need to take the face further.  This is a study on how much you really don't need.  There's a lot of details but I'm editing them out.  One for elegance and second for visual fill in.  The audience will fill in the rest of the image.  Surprising how much you can get done with a few simplified shapes.

Sterling Tian Week 6 Finish

This is 5 hours.  I pulled back on the black to mimic the overcast lighting on the figure.  I think I pulled back a little too much at her legs. I'll definitely render in one hour chunks next time instead of rushing through it in 2.5.

Sterling Tian Week 6

This is 2.5 hours.  I made sure I was patient enough to get a solid lay-in.  I think I'm going to add tones the next time I work on this.

LP Study WK 11 Lay in and tonal plan

Really gonna simplify this one so my lay in will dictate
everything.  Gonna spend more time adjusting and designing my lay in.

MV Lay in

I'm still working out the lay in, trying to slow down and understanding the inner shapes, it's been really hard. 1 hour and a half, i need critics! thanks!

LP Study Wk 10 1st Tonal Pass

Now that I feel that the lay in is nailed down.  I can start adding tone.
I'm focusing more on the stuff in shadow so I'll be keeping the light side simple.
If I render both sides, the image will get busy.  It's a balance of simple and complex.

Sterling Tian Week 5 (2.5 hours)

This is 2.5 hours in.  I'm going at this with emphasis on planes and contrast.  I put an hour into the lay-in and I just couldn't take it anymore and threw down some tones.  I did a little rendering here and there, but I'm trying to keep that at a minimum for now.

I hope ya'll don't mind, but I'm going to do two long poses this week to make up for me not doing one last week.

Criticism at this point of the process is highly appreciated!

LP Study WK 10 Lay in

Something I'm thinking about more now.  How muscles work together to create
natural rythms.  Muscle groups in the arms tend to go towards the head.
I'll probably spend more time on designing the lay in.  Here's the basic idea.
( Keep in mind that as I do this, I'm still making sure I make form notes.)

Sterling Tian Week 4 Finish

I'm lagging a little behind on these.  I'll get to work on another before the week ends.  Any criticism helps!  I feel like I'm loosing direction...
