Sterling Tian Thumbnail Practice 1

I don't know if this is exactly on topic for a long pose study blog, but here are some 2 tone 15 minute thumbnail sketches I did for practice.  I'd love to hear ideas.  Maybe more contrast on some of these...

  1. I'm definitely going to try this for myself. May help me to stop rendering so much too early and focus on main lighting areas. Out come is really nice too!

    1. Do it man! You also learn how to control space in the composition! Very helpful.

    2. Good job! Good that your starting to think in that manner. Try doing some with a black sharpie and a pencil. You can only make black white and gray. The next step is to manipulate your thumbnails. Take one of the thumbnails you did and change the values. Meaning, play with moving values around. This gives you more freedom to design. Remember that the camera sees to much, You as an artist gets to choose what will be and what will not. Good job man keep going.

Also if you really wanna push value design, watch classic black and white movies.
